Infuser - disposable infusion pump suitable for home care
An infuser is a disposable pump for intravenous or subcutaneous infusion. The pump includes an external container and a balloon inside, into which the pharmacist inserts the treatment solution in the prescription. In fact, the content of the infuser is based on a personal prescription that includes the dose of the drug and the infusion rate according to the patient's personal data. The infusion rate is a consequence of the degree of elasticity of the balloon. The infuser shell is rigid and adapted to the comfort of the patient at home.
The infuser pump allows mobility at home and normal conduct in everyday life.
The pump has a unique structure that prevents the solution from leaking out and blocks the entry of pollutants inside. In order for the pump to work optimally and allow a correct flow rate, the pump top must be attached to the body as much as possible. From the moment the cap is removed, the medicine flows into the cannula according to the rate set in the prescription.
Infuser - frequently asked questions and answers
Is it possible to sleep with the pump?
Yes. It is advisable to place it on a nearby dresser and not on the bed.
Is it possible to shower with the pump?
Yes. The infuser must be wrapped in a bag to prevent water from entering. You can also place the pump on a surface outside the shower.
How do you know that the pump has finished its activity?
In the hard container is a balloon with the drug solution inside. The balloon comes full. From the moment the cap of the infuser tube is removed, the medicine begins to flow out, and at the same time the medicine balloon slowly shrinks. The flow rate is slow and complies with the doctor's instructions. At the end of the infusion, the volume of the balloon will be reduced to the size of a finger.
What affects the rate of drug flow?
High heat and exposure to the sun accelerate the rate of the balloon's emptying. It is recommended not to stay in direct sunlight. On the other hand, cold slows down the rate of emptying the balloon. And in any case, it is important to verify from time to time that the connection to the catheter is correct, and that the flow of the medicine is progressing.

IV= Intravenous
TPN = Total Parenteral Nutrition
This term refers to a bag used for intravenous feeding. The bag contains dividers that create three sections. The three sections contain various nutritional components (amino acids, dextrose, lipid emulsion and various electrolytes) in a fixed composition.
Before using the bag, partitions are opened by rolling the bag. The rolling allows the mixing of the contents of the three sections, to obtain a homogeneous infusion solution. The 3CB bag provides all the required .nutrients, except vitamins and trace elements
